Today is a Day of Lasts

Today I will do many things for the last time. Today I will write an article for the last time. Today I will create for the magazines one last time. Today I will meet a deadline one last time. Today I will finish up any outstanding projects having to do with the magazines.

Today is my last day contributing to Northridge Publishing.

Last month I stepped down in my positions filming, designing, and writing for the magazines. And today I'm finishing up loose ends.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my amazing journey with the people at Northridge. I feel blessed to have been a part of such an amazing team for so many years. I just wanted to take some time to thank them for the opportunity to do the things I love!

I loved writing, editing, filming, and designing for Scrapbook Trends Magazine. Thanks to Linda who kept me in line, kept me on task, and gave me new ideas. Thanks to Kristy who  made my projects shine through phenomenal photography. Thanks to Kate who tracked down every word, and is the queen of organization. It was a pleasure to serve as a Contributing Editor for the amazing "Scrapbook Trends Magazine."

I also loved being invited to serve as a Contributing Editor for the Create: Idea Book Series. Thanks again to Linda and Kate for all the love and support. Thanks to Ben who took my vision and made it shine. Thanks to Melanie who also made my projects look their best through great photography. And thanks to all the readers who contributed to the articles I enjoyed writing every month.

I have to send a shout out to Kaycee Leishman for this publication. This amazing girl spent hours with me as we prepped and photographed tutorials for this book. It was my pleasure to serve as Creative Editor on the Cricut Magazine. Thanks to Alisha for making everything so fabulous!

I definitely have to thank Amy Jussel for her photographic eye and soul (and the long drives down to meet me at the office). I loved serving with her on the Cricut Idea Books. Good times, good times!

Additional thanks to Kristine McKay and Rick for helping me understand and learn the process of filming. I'll never be a movie star, but they made me look pretty darn good on camera. Thanks, guys!

And finally, I have to thank Tammy for showing me the ropes, gently guiding me, and being my friend. I'm going to miss our daily IM's. Thanks to Chad and Brian who gave me the chance and allowed me to be a part of so many great projects! And last, but not, least thanks to Pam Baird who is more like a Mom than a boss. She loves you through your projects, brings out the best in you, and made work a sweet experience. You can't always say that you love your boss, but I have the great priviledge of doing so. I adore Pam and I can't say enough amazing things about the woman who gave me my big break. I love you, my dear!

Northridge Publishing is filled with amazing people who contribute to amazing projects. I can hardly believe this journey is at an end.

As far as my work with Northridge, you will still be able to see my articles for Scrapbook Trends Magazine through December's issue. I will also have work sprinkled about in the Create: Idea Book Series and within the pages of Cricut Magazine for a few more months as we often work six months out. Look for a new, extremely fabulous editor in next year's issues. I already know she's going to rock it!

And as far as where I'm headed, I'll have more news soon. I'm blessed to be moving on to exciting new things, but I wanted today to be all about my gratitude for my Northridge experience.

I love you, guys!! Thanks so much!

My Last Create Blog Post

Yes. It's true. Today is my last blog post for the Northridge Publishing Create blog. Look for a new author on Monday. She (yes, it is a she) will be fabulous and will bring a new perspective; as well as, all her talent to the blog. She has lots of ideas up her sleeve, and I'm excited to be inspired more by her work.

Today's blog post involved using pockets to include journaling on your layout. I love hidden journaling. I also love interactive pages so today's post was exceedingly fun to create.

Be sure to check out all the instructions, additional helpful photos, and the complete supply list here!

And be sure to check the blog Monday for the new designer's first post! I can't wait for you to meet her!

September Stretch Your Sketch Class

Be sure to join me at www.twopeasinabucket.com for my latest installment in the free monthly class "Stretch Your Sketch" which offers instructions, images, and a helpful video on using a sketch as inspiration for creating a layout. This month's layout is a 12x12" layout featuring stamping:

This sketch is based on the following sketch:

New Stamps = Happiness

I love it when I have new stamps to play with, and today on the Create blog I colored in some little girl stamps from Hero Arts to create "ribbon hanging tags," which is the "Work It Out Wednesday" Tutorial today. I don't have a lot of Copic Markers, but the few I have collected I chose carefully so that I would be able to color in images.

Here is the completed layout:

Let the Good Times Roll

This is the layout that I forgot to post. Obviously I really wanted to share the digital page (ha, ha). It's been a long month and I don't know what I was thinking. But I did want to show you this project I created for the Create blog a few weeks ago.

The product that I used on this page is from the "Mistables" line from Pink Paislee. If you love altering: misting, inking, etc. then this line is FULL of items that can be altered. I chose the linen scallop borders to alter. They look gorgeous just as linen, but I wanted to ink it up. It really soaks up the color so go easy if you don't want full coverage.

Be sure to check out the entire project here:

Now I'm off to help the husband start packing for his third marathon. Isn't it amazing what the human body can do? Know what my human body is good at? Being a spectator in the crowd. Hey, somebody has to cheer on the runners, and I take my responsibility VERY seriously. Can't wait to see him cross the finish line. I get all teared up every time I'm so proud of him.

Tissue Paper Filter Embellishments

When creating blog posts for the Create blog, I'm always looking for new techniques or products that I can try. I enjoy learning as much as the next person so I was excited to try the new tissue paper embellishments from Fancy Pants Design. These thin, shaped tissue paper embellishments are easily altered with paint, ink, mist, or stamping. I chose to mist them in today's "Work It Out Wednesday" blog post. You can find all the directions for creating this project here, as well as, additional instructions and the complete supply list:

(You may also have noticed some changes on the blog. I am trying to organize the format a little more. You may see more items change as I decide what I like best.) :)

Working 9 'til 5

Ok, it's more like 3 a.m. to midnight these days, but I've something big in the works and I'm looking forward to sharing the news. Keeping on top of being Mom, church things, day-to-day living and work stuff makes for some VERY long days. It's funny. If I dream, I feel like I've had a good night's rest.

I have one share with you this morning. I neglected to share this project with you on the day it was featured on the Northridge Publishing "Create" blog. It's a layout that contains zero photos. We all have those events in which we either neglect or purposely choose not to take photos. But we still want to include them in our scrapbooks. This "Work It Out Wednesday" post discusses how you can creatively tell the story without any photos. Be sure to check out all the photos, instructions and the complete supply list here. And here is the layout about our "staycation" recently:

I'll have another Create blog post share tomorrow so stay tuned!

"Jane's Doodles" Blog Hop

Welcome to the "Jane's Doodles" Blog Hop. You may have just arrived from Emily Leiphart's blog. I'm so excited to be participating in today's hop. Jane Beljo is an amazing woman and a VERY creative person. She has recently begun designing stamps, and today I get to play with them.
Jane hand draws each of the stamp images. I so admire her talent as I have very little in the fine art talent department. Let me show you how cute her images are!
The first project I created uses the "Pretty Peonies" stamp set. I stamped the first flower, then masked it off and stamped a second flower (same image) slightly lower than the first stamp. I colored in these images with my Copic Markers (R22, R24, R27, YG03, YG17, YR15, YR18) then cut them out. I then layered them onto a circle of pink dotted patterned paper and then added the "you are loved" sentiment in black ink:

Change Is In the Wind

I posted this as my Facebook status yesterday, and it's been funny to watch everyone's guesses. No, I'm not pregnant and we are not moving. Those are the 2 guesses I expected. I'm not yet ready to share the news, but I will when the time is right.

While you're waiting (impatiently if you're like me), I have do have a share today on the Create Blog. I didn't take many photos on our staycation so I wanted to show our readers how you can create a layout without using any photos at all just by substituting a digital icon/image for a photo. (You could also do this with a sticker or chipboard element.) Be sure to read all the details and instructions for creating this layout here:

Back to Life

Oh the disappointment of returning home after a relaxing vacation that reminds you just how good it is to get away and just how hard it is to come back home.

We did it, though! We found a little oasis of peace just an hour away right in the heart of downtown Salt Lake. We've discovered that we prefer a hotel with a living area and a closed door for the bedroom so that the ornery people have a place to go away from the crowd. The kids and their Dad spent the entire time playing Risk, a newly discovered game for the kids. It's all about beating their Dad, and they're coming close on game #2. I, on the other hand, read two books and actually watched an entire movie. It felt so indulgent. I didn't even realize how much I needed to get away until we did it.

A couple of things to share with you today. I hope you're joining in on the latest 2Peas event: "Design School." This event is aimed at teaching you principles of design in creating your projects. Each week the Garden Girls release a new batch of layouts/projects focusing on a design concept. There are also videos and chats about these ideas. You can find my project here where I discuss "Rhythm":

I also had a school layout go live yesterday that is my new favorite. Love a graphic page! You can find the supply list for creating this hybrid page here:

Now I'm off to finish up some laundry and possibly take a nap as the little guy did NOT have a very good night last night. (Stomach ache from all the junk food on our trip I believe.)
